RESEARCH SUMMARY
Based on the consistency with which behavioral adaptations are mediated by
specialized neural systems in the animal kingdom, we believe that the design
of primate neural systems should reflect the specialized functions that
these systems have evolved to carry out, like social communication. Our
research combines the study of primate vocal behaviour with neurophysiology.
Current work focuses on the auditory, visual and multi-modal processing of
vocal and facial expressions in monkeys.
