What we do

Meet the Ombuds

"Where all think alike, no one thinks very much"

W. Lippman

The University Ombuds Office is a confidential, neutral office that assists students, faculty, and staff by resolving problems that arise in the University promptly and fairly. By providing options for resolution and by serving as a mediator or negotiator between disputants, the Ombuds Office provides an informal alternative to existing University problem-solving services and procedures.

Another important aspect of the Office is that it makes recommendations to the President and Provost concerning University efforts to provide a more healthy campus climate on issues concerning, but not limited to, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, beliefs, and disability.
