Admission to the Joint Degree ProgramsStudents applying for admission to the joint degree program are reviewed simultaneously by the hosting department and the interdisciplinary social policy faculty who lead the core seminar. Only those who are admitted by both committees will be eligible to enroll. This insures complete integration both into the disciplinary departments and to the social policy community. Students in sociology and politics are encouraged to apply as incoming first year graduate students, although they can decide to transfer at a later time, space permitting. For external admission in 2008, prospective students should visit the online application within the Princeton Graduate School website and apply by December 15. On page two of the application, they should select either Sociology or Politics as the department to which they wish to apply. Under the areas of interest portion of the application, select "social policy." For existing students in Sociology or Politics who wish to transfer in to the joint degree program, an application for internal admission is available and due as of March 1. Student in psychology must apply directly to the department through the same online application. They will be eligible to transfer to the joint degree program in Psychology and Social Policy as rising second or third year students, at which point they should complete the internal application for admission. Students in economics who are interested in social policy are invited to apply for fellowships in social policy, which do not lead to a degree, but which provide for a three term course sequence and full fellowship support (including tuition) for one year. |
