I work in several areas of theoretical and empirical micro economics. The theoretical problems that have most interested me concern the effects of asymmetric information, adverse selection, and uncertainty on how economic institutions function. The substantive problems in which I am most interested are inequality, intergenerational mobility, health, insurance, and education. The volume brings together classic and modern thinking in the economics of uncertainty as well as material on search theory. Articles, introduced with brief commentaries, are divided into three broad sections: theory of choice under uncertainty, general equilibrium models of financial institutions, and models of the effects of uncertainty on market institutions. |
