Erik Vickstrom, a graduate student in the department of sociology and the Office of Population Research, graduated from Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Sociology and American Studies. After working at the Murray Research Center at Harvard's Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Erik spent almost five years living and working in West Africa. He served as a Peace Corps English teacher in Guinea and then worked in Senegal as Assistant Director of an NGO devoted to cross-cultural training and resource development. After returning to the US, he worked on the USAID funded Famine Early Warning System Network (FEWS NET) project in Washington, DC. At Princeton, Erik studies international migration both within and from West Africa, and has spent time in Senegal working on the MAFE (Migration between Africa and Europe) project. In addition to migration, Erik's interests include development, inequality, and social networks.
