In 2006, Jacquelin received her BA in cultural anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania. She has done research on the Moving to Opportunity demonstration and the TLC3 interviews of Fragile Families. Fieldwork in West Philadelphia developed her interests in poverty and urban ethnography. She is currently interested in the intersection between poverty and mental health, specifically mental disorder and cognitive impairment.
