David Lee Awarded Dennis Aigner Award for 2009
David Lee has been awarded the Dennis Aigner Award for 2009. His paper, “Randomized experiments from non-random selection in U.S. House elections,” was judged by a prize committee to be “the most significant applied paper published in the Journal of Econometrics in 2007 and 2008.” The prize will be awarded at a special dinner in David’s honor at the upcoming ASSA meetings.

Larry Bartels receives book award from APSA
Larry Bartels is the recipient of the American Political Science Association's 2009 Gladys M. Kammerer Award for his book Unequal Democracy: The Political Economy of the New Gilded Age (Princeton University Press, Russell Sage Foundation, 2008). The award is given each year for the best political science publication in the field of U.S. national policy.

Gene Grossman Receives Honorary Degree from the University of St. Gallen
Gene Grossman received an honorary doctorate in economic sciences (Dr. oec. h. c.) for "pioneering research on growth, political economy and trade as well as on the international organization of business."

Marco Battaglini Receives Michael Wallerstein Award
Marco Battaglini's and Stephen Coate’s 2008 American Economic Review article, "A Dynamic Theory of Public Spending, Taxation, and Debt," has been selected to receive the Michael Wallerstein Award from the Political Economy Section of the American Political Science Association for the best article published in 2008 in the area of political economy.
